Internships
The IPS Internship Program is an an opportunity for undergraduate and master's level students to apply the financial planning, money management, marketing, and client service concepts in a real world wealth management environment. Our interns are personally mentored by Dominick Paoloni, the firm's principal with over 25 years of experience in the industry, and expected to participate in all facets of our money management and estate planning business.
IPS interns are taught to use cutting-edge tools currently implemented only at the endowment and institutional level, building portfolios based on science and technology. With extensive training on Morningstar, Monte Carlo, asset allocation, portfolio optimization, and Modern Portfolio Theory, an IPS internship provides students with the technical skills required to excel in the financial industry after graduation.
The topics covered in the IPS Internship Program include wealth management, portfolio optimization, small business ownership, estate planning, economics, marketing, and client services through hands-on experience in financial analysis, mutual fund research, 401(k) optimization, marketing, client services, trading and re-optimizing, graphic design, and marketing, event coordination, and client meetings.
WHAT PREVIOUS INTERNS HAVE TO SAY:
"My internship with IPS taught me not only strong financial concepts, but also efficient practice management tools used in private firms. I think I will be way ahead of my peers in terms of understanding financial concepts and interpreting financial data as a result of interning at IPS." -Jin Lee (CU-Boulder)
"IPS is a small firm, but with big ideas. I was a part of every aspect of the business; from client meetings to analysis and more. I was relied on to be knowledgeable, accurate and dependable. I never expected to be given the responsibilities I was, but I wouldn't have learned half as much as I did if it weren't for that fact." - Tyler Brown (CU-Boulder)
"I enjoyed how we were able to give a great deal of input and feedback on important projects and to see those come to fruition. It was interactive and informative and definitely exceeded my expectations in many ways." - Emily Gray (DU-Daniels School, Graduate Studies)
"This program exceeded my expectations; I learned more about entrepreneurship, client relations and marketing than I originally anticipated. I was also very grateful for the continuous positive feedback given to us to make sure our needs were satisfied." - Tascha Gal (DU-Daniels School, Graduate Studies)
"I was excited to build a model portfolio and I enjoyed working on Morningstar; I learned a lot about finance, especially Modern Portfolio Theory, which I feel will be an invaluable asset in the future." - David Brown (Loyola-Marymont)
